Officially State of Minnesota
What the flag looks like
A light blue field with a dark blue shape at the hoist, echoing the outline of the state, holding a white eight-pointed star.
What it means
The star stands for the North Star and the state motto "L'Étoile du Nord"; the light blue stands for Minnesota's many lakes and rivers.
How to remember it
Minnesota's
new flag is a white North Star in a dark blue, state-shaped block against a light blue field, with no seal at all.
Fun facts
